Yesterday, the first stage of the "Basque Country", my legs were as bad as the day before. I wasn't able to "ride" the trip out of my legs and system in the afternoon as I had hoped. Instead I felt heavy and swollen, something you really suffer for here in this hilly terrain. As a result, I was dropped on the second last climb and lost a lot of time. Today however I felt a lot better, being able to help the team out and finish not too far off the front group. The following days I hope the good sensations continue, so I can go back home again with improved self confidence. I honestly believe it's one of the key factors I am missing due to all the disappointment during last year. Anyway, tomorrow I believe is the longest stage, although with a somewhat easier finish. Now time for another movie before time to turn off the light and go to sleep to get some well needed recovery. Good night.
